Imagine this. A slim, toned person is spending a day at home and becomes aware that she is hungry. The tummy rumbles and she thinks “must eat”. So she goes into the kitchen and looks in the refrigerator. The first edible thing she sees causes her to go into a very fast, light trance as she rapidly (split seconds) imagines eating it, and how that feels in her stomach, and how that reacts with her body. Her stomach will give her a “yes”, “no” or “maybe” feeling.
If it’s a strong “yes” she’ll probably just take that one and that’s the end of it. If it’s a “no” or “maybe” she’ll look at the next thing and once again go through that process of imagining eating it, and the consequences of that, and her stomach will give her that dependable gut reaction. What if there’s nothing there that her stomach says “yes” to?
Well she might move on to the pantry and do the same thing there, but if there’s nothing that her stomach says “yes” to, she might just decide to have nothing, and go back to what she was doing. She’ll make up for it later by eating something that is “worth it”. (More on the “worth it” concept later.)
This often comes up when people engage in one week or other weekly diets. Can you imagine feeling that way about food? To look at a chocolate, or bag of chips, or a huge bowl of pasta and to feel repelled if you’ve already eaten something like that recently? Can you imagine standing in front of your refrigerator or pantry mentally tasting the food and preferring to have nothing, than to have something that doesn’t “taste” right?
Can you imagine it being no big deal to walk away, thinking to yourself “I’ll have something better later” and for your mind to go immediately onto the next MORE INTERESTING thing you want to do? This is a life where food thoughts come up only when you’re hungry, or when you’re planning the shopping, or where you read a magazine and see a recipe that you think it might be nice to have some time. You need to know this about yourself to naturally lose weight fast, and avoid one week diets.
Take a look at the to see what I mean. Here’s where you’ll learn how to fast.

Probably one of the most widely believed myths about food is that if you skip meals you are bound to lose weight. Nothing could be further from the truth.
If you miss out meals, especially skipping breakfast at the start of your busy day, you’ll find that, instead of cutting calories, your blood sugar levels will rise and fall all day. You will end up eating more and, what are worse the chances are that it will not be something healthy and low calorie but junk food, grabbed in a hurry. It is much healthier to have three low calorie meals a day and healthy low calorie snacks mid morning and mid afternoon to keep your energy levels up.
Eight Glasses of Water
Some people believe they have to force themselves to drink the often quoted 8 glasses of water a day, but that is not the case. Our bodies do lose around 2 to 3 quarts of water each day just through natural processes like breathing and perspiring, and we do need a good supply of fluids to keep us healthy, but it does not have to be eight glasses of water.
Thirst is a fairly reliable indicator of our need for fluids, and while pure water is the easiest, quickest and probably the best way to get the fluids we need, there are other acceptable ways. The fluid in soft drinks, juices and smoothie recipes does count, especially when they are low-salt, low carbohydrate drinks. Fruits and vegetables, too, contain fluids that contribute to the overall fluid intake.
You can also count tea and coffee. It’s a common misconception that the caffeine in tea and coffee drains fluids from the system. However, although caffeine is a mild diuretic, when you drink tea or coffee your body still retains as much as half the fluid.
Popular Food Myths
There are many popular myths about foods but what are the realities behind them? Here are a few.
An Apple a Day
Is the old adage say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away true? No it is not. Certainly, eating plenty of fruit each day will help you get enough fiber, vitamins and minerals, but just one apple a day will not. An apple will provide about 40 calories of energy, 3 grams of dietary fiber, 2 mg of vitamin C and very small amounts of iron, thiamine and niacin.
Margarine is less fattening than Butter
This is false. There is very little difference in the calorie counts of butter and margarine and they are both required to contain at least 80 per cent fat. Low-fat spreads are lower in calories than both butter and margarine.
Brown Sugar is better for you than White
This is not true. Refined white sugar is almost totally pure sucrose at 99.9 per cent. Though less refined, and containing 1 per cent water, brown sugar is still 98 per cent pure sucrose. Although brown sugar does retain tiny amounts of minerals and vitamins, they are in amounts too small to make any real difference.
Spinach makes you Strong
False – there is no medical basis for this idea. Spinach is a good source of vitamins A and C and contains the minerals iron and copper. It is no more or less nutritious, however, than other leafy green vegetables.
Meat is Essential for Strength
Again this is false. There are growing numbers of strong and healthy vegetarians and vegans, who eat no animal foods at all.
Garlic, the Herbal Cure for Everything
Partly true, there is an old belief that eating a few raw cloves of garlic every day has real health benefits; and science does back this up. Studies have shown that garlic can lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and in this way help to prevent heart disorders. There is some evidence that it can help prevent bronchial complaints, sinus problems, colds, chills and flu.
Bran is best to keep you Regular-done
False, it is much better to eat more of the foods that are naturally high in fiber than to sprinkle bran on top of a refined carbohydrate food. Eating generous amounts of fiber in the form vegetables such as celery, cabbage and carrots, and fresh fruit and wholegrain cereals, is much more effective and healthy. It is quite a common complaint that too much bran can be an irritant for the bowels and cause uncomfortable bloating. Take it only in small amounts as part of a fibre-rich diet, and plenty of fluids.

Low carbohydrate diets are not only for people wishing to lose weight. They are a necessary lifestyle for Type II diabetics and those suffering from candiasis (an overgrowth of yeast in the intestinal tract). However, achieving goals for low carbohydrate intake brings with it some discomforting side effects or drawbacks.
Drawbacks and counteraction:
Withdrawal: When sugars are taken from a carbohydrate addict, instant withdrawal symptoms can occur, such as headaches, energy slumps, and malaise.
Cravings: The second stage involves a constant obsession with food. Now that the body has been deprived of excessive carbohydrates, our minds want to eat every hour, waiting for the next snack or meal, with an urge to binge at night.
Hypoglycemia: Worst still, when carbohydrates have been limited, some will go into a severe sugar dip known as hypoglycemia, resulting in the shakes, faintness, and loss of energy, headaches, and a total body slump.
Counteraction: Be aware these situations will occur until the body has stabilized and gotten used to the limitation of carbohydrates. The best way to counteract these side effects is to be prepared with small snacks which break the sugar dips and cravings. When you are prepared, you will not be tempted to grab just any food which may result in extra calories or extra carbohydrates. Having some juice in the fridge will take care of hypoglycemia slumps. One ounce will do.
As for the other symptoms, some snack zip-lock bags and pack controlled portions of healthy foods, such as a handful of almonds or peanuts. Fresh raw vegetables sticks are always welcomed. If you want something more substantial, have on hand the highest fiber cereal you can find (Fiber 1 or Original All Bran). A half cup with a half banana or strawberries, with almond milk will satisfy a craving.
Other low carbohydrate snacks can be in the way of a boiled egg, and ounce of low fat cheese, some yogurt with blueberries and flaxseed meal, or even a mixture of hot water, flaxseed meal, and a tablespoon of peanut butter. It actually satisfies and soothes the stomach. Include in your diet also, lots of seeds, nuts, and beans and legumes. They are healthy and contain lots of fiber.
Chronic fatigue:
Carbohydrates provide quick energy and jumpstart the body’s metabolism. The secret is to eat every three hours so the body is constantly fuelled with little shots of carbohydrates every few hours. Spend time on finding snacks which
Contain less than 20 grams of carbohydrates. Kashi makes a wonderful granola bar. Apples are great for a pick-me-up, providing good fiber. As are all nuts and seeds, for constant energy. With a schedule for eating, it will counteract the side effects of sugar dips and constant fatigue.
Nutrition deficit:
Limiting carbohydrates also limits maximum nutrition from foods. By eating super foods which provide the most energy and nutrients, yet are lowest in calories, fats, and carbohydrates gives you the most bangs for your bucks. Concentrate on brightly colored fruits and vegetables. They are high in antioxidants, Vitamin C, and minerals; especially magnesium and Vitamin K. Examples are green/red peppers, carrots, artichoke, broccoli, spinach, etc. The best fruit to eat which are low in carbohydrates and also low on the glycemic index are berries, cantaloupe, kiwi, nectarines/peaches. Nuts and seeds provide necessary essential oils which are crucial to good health. Of course, if you love beans, cook them with lean pork or beef as they are high in fiber and provide complex carbohydrates, along with lots of vitamins and minerals.
Protein substitution:
The problem with being on a low carbohydrate diet is one must up the consumption of protein. Eating too much protein is taxing on your organs. It takes longer for proteins to be broken down. That’s why they say protein will keep you fuller longer, but meanwhile you may be hungry waiting for the protein to digest. Not to mention the long term side effects of eating saturated fats along with meats, and the potential to clog your arteries.
The solution is to always eat lean cuts of meat and to replace with protein alternatives such as tofu, turkey breast, low fat cheese, unsweetened yogurt, cottage cheese, and even eggs. Eggs have been maligned for years but in actuality is considered the perfect protein food, along with omega oils, with under 100 calories per egg, no carbohydrate, and with 2/3 good cholesterol as opposed to the other 1/3 bad. So decide for yourself its worth
