Women normally have two ovaries that store and release eggs

Malignancy, Ovarian

Women desperate for the condition of being pregnant possibly will be setting themselves up for malignancy if they take fertility medication. Mary Rossing, PH.D. And colleagues at the University of Washington at the Cancer Research Center came to the conclusion that women taking fertility medication had 2-1/s times the natural possibility of increasing ovarian cancer, especially long-term practice of the drug clomiphene, at the Stanford University school of Medicine came to the conclusion a threefold greater hazard of ovarian cancer amongst women using fertility drugs.

Ovarian cancer is thought to stem from genetic mistakes that happen as cells divide to renovate the ovary as soon as it ruptures to make available an egg. Before the present time the condition of being pregnant, which comes to an end ovulation for months at a time, has been publicized to greatly diminish the probability of a woman developing ovarian cancer, it stands to reason that no matter which that stimulates ovulation will suffer the opposite influence.

This genetic imperfection, by the way, possibly will be corrected through good nutrition. All the illnesses that befall us are comes about or influenced by genes. Merely since you are born with faulty genes, does not mean you bear to live with them. The reality is, the body has enzymatic machinery designed to defeat and renovate faulty nuclear DNA (genes). This offensive line depends on good nourishment for optimum performance. Emanuel Cheraskin, M.D., says, ?think of the gene as the seed, the natural environment as the soil. You can grow a healthy plant in first-rate soil even if you start out with a weak seed.?

A associate revealed me they recently exposed the gene for being overweight. ?It was revealed at the bottom of a container of Haagen Daz ice cream,? she laughed.

The eating of dairy products has been connected to a higher-than-normal incidence of ovarian cancer. In 1989, Gynecologist Daniel Kramer at Harvard Medical School in Boston linked galactose eating with an increased possibility of ovarian cancer. Galactose has been discover to be toxic to human eggs, it could be that it in some way interferes with our enzymatic offensive line.

If you would like to avoid ovarian cancer, do not eat fatty products, and concentrate of fresh, whole vegetables. Harvey Risch, M.D., Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, Yale University School of Medicine came to the conclusion that the evil cholesterol-raising properties of Tran fatty acids, saturated fat an eggs increased a woman?s probability of becoming ovarian cancer. He came to the conclusion eating vegetable fiber decreased the risk as it decreased the cholesterol. He decided that reducing the intake of saturated fat and consuming added vegetables appears to drop the gamble of ovarian cancer. If your cholesterol is high and you are concerned about ovarian cancer, take aged garlic extract.

How to get Ripped Abs Quick

Ribbed abs have become a preoccupation for many people. There are so many exercises for the abs that we sometimes do not know what to choose. Summer is a time when many people are wondering about their body as they want to sit on the beach and feel good about themselves.

It is true that you can not get ripped abs just over night. Unfortunately who ever says that it is lying. But it is possible to get ribbed abs in a short period of time. This happens only if you will apply your whole attention to it and be very committed. It all depends on the current status of your body and the way in which you approach the situation.

Tip 1 – sort out the diet

Diet is one of the main key of losing weight and building great abs. But do not go at it in the wrong way and start cutting down calories and starve yourself. That is not the way to do it and you will only affect the metabolism in a wrong way. What you need to do is get on a balanced diet and make sure you are keeping the fat intake under control. You need to keep proteins and carbs also under control. This means you need to pay attention to what you are eating. You need to cut down starches and also the sugar. Eat a lot of unprocessed food and natural things like fruits, eggs, vegetables and organic meat.

Tip 2 – the way in which you need to do the exercises

Endless cardio exercises are a thing of the past. Why should you work long and hard when you can work smart? You need to change to short but intense workouts. Only in this way you will manage to speed up the metabolism. Sticking to the schedule is very important also. You can try: Rope Jumping, Short Sprints, Hill Sprints, Stair Climbing

Interval Training, Waist High Roundhouse Kicks and many more. You can also run in short 70m sprints on a hill. This will build up your resistance and you will be able to work out more and get rid of the fat. But try to exercise about 3 times a week and always listen to the needs of the body. Do not over push it, if you think it is not the time.

Super Tip 3: Which abdominal exercises should you do?

The full body exercises are the ones that you need to focus on. It is not true you need to do isolated abs exercises. You have to try to focus on the entire body. Going to the gym and talking to a coach about it is a very good way to approach this. Engaging your entire body is the best way to get that perfect ripped abdomen. Make sure to include crunches and lifts in your routine, as they will help you a lot. In this way you will make your body get rid of fat.

Who is Susceptible to Vitamin B12 Deficiency?

VITAMIN B12: WHAT IS IT

Vitamin B12, sometimes referred to as cobalamin, is used by our bodies in the production of DNA which is the genetic material found in all of our cells. It is also essential for healthy nerves and red blood cells.

We get vitamin B12 from animal products that we eat. Some of the more common sources are fish, eggs, poultry, meat and milk products. For vegetarians fortified breakfast cereals are an excellent source. B12 is bound to the proteins in the foods that we eat and is released by hydrochloric acid during the digestive process. Once released it will now combine with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF) which is easily absorbed in our intestinal tract.

WHO MAY BE B12 DEFICIENT

Most people in the United States get their recommended daily requirement of B12 from the foods that they consume. The body normally stores several years of supply. In a person that has an absorption problem and those who follow a strict vegetarian diet and do not eat any meat products B12 deficiencies may develop. The majority of people with this deficiency are those with underlying stomach or intestinal problems. Symptoms can be very subtle and start with reduced cognitive function followed by anemia and dementia. These symptoms are very general in nature and can be the result of many other medical conditions. If you or someone you know are having these symptoms it is important to be evaluated by a medical professional who can prescribe the proper treatment plan.

PREGNANCY AND VITAMIN B12

Nutrients are transferred from the mother to the fetus through the placenta during pregnancy. Vitamin B12 is one of these nutrients that are transferred at this time. This is also one of the nutrients infants receive from their mothers during breast feeding. Deficiencies of this vitamin are rare in infants but can occur when the mother herself is deficient and does not have the proper reserves. One example of this is when the mother is a strict vegetarian and has an inadequate supply of B12 to pass on to their infant. In cases like this a deficiency of B12 can develop in a matter of months after birth. This is something to be concerned about because if a deficiency goes undetected and untreated in an infant it can lead to neurological damage. Unfortunately this damage is often severe and irreversible. In light of this it is suggested that mothers who follow a strict vegetarian diet consult with their pediatricians about B12 supplementation for their infants and children. They may also want to speak with their own primary care provider about their own B12 requirements.

WHO ELSE MAY BE AT RISK OF B12 DEFICIENCY?

Hemoglobin in red blood cells carries oxygen to our tissues and cells. Anemia is a condition in which or red blood cells have an insufficient amount of hemoglobin to do this. Symptoms of an anemia can be weakness and fatigue. Anemia can cause a variety of medical problems such as deficiencies in vitamin B12, vitamin B6, folate and iron. Pernicious anemia is a name given more than a century ago to a then fatal form of anemia caused by gastric atrophy. This condition prevents gastric cells from secreting intrinsic factor (IF). As we know B12 must combine with IF to be absorbed into the system. The solution to this problem is usually an injection of B12 to get levels to where they should be followed by supplementation to maintain them. Your doctor should always monitor this treatment.

If you have gastrointestinal disorders you could be B12 deficient due to reduced ability to absorb nutrients. Some common conditions that may cause this are Cohn’s Disease and celiac disease. Also people that have undergone gastrointestinal surgery such as removal of part of the stomach may result in the loss of cells responsible for the manufacture of IF.

Atrophic gastritis is a condition in which one has increased intestinal bacteria. It is estimated that about 30% of people over 50 years of age have this. There are two effects from this, first it decreases the amount of gastric juices produced and secondly this increased bacteria actually compete for the available amount of B12. This causes the normal absorption process to be hindered. People with this condition are able to absorb synthetic B12 such as those found in fortified foods and supplements. These two sources of B12 are believed to be the best for people over 50 years of age.

Diarrhea Remedies

Diarrhea is a common disease especially in children. It should be given immediate attention so as to prevent any fatal happenings. If not given adequate attention and cure then it may turn fatal and harmful to one’s life.

Causes of diarrhea include stress, infection, an unbalanced diet, bacteria in food and many more. On the most part, you should let it run its course, about 6-12 hours to shed any toxins, bacteria or virus that may have caused it. If it lasts for 2-3 days though, consult your doctor.

Diarrhea may be cause because of several reasons. Infection through bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, viruses such as herpes or parasites like Entamoeba histolytica is some of the common causes. In children there may also be food intolerance such as not being able to digest milk.

This can lead to many conditions, of which diarrhea is a common one caused by failure of the digestive system to operate correctly. The treatment should be as for stress, since the effect of physical trauma is to accelerate the peristaltic intestinal motion, and astringent treatments, as detailed later, can also be effective.

Live yoghurt helps to restore the bacteria in large intestine. Return gradually to other solid foods such as steamed carrots, bananas, hard boiled eggs, and then slowly resume a normal diet. In case of children the advice is to puree the food in a blender.

In case of diarrhea you should drink plenty of fluids and at the same time you should not drink alcohol and caffeine. Drinks made from ginger and carrots are useful as they make the stools less watery. Also make sure that you do not drink juice made of apple because it will only increase diarrhea.

Try drinking either chamomile tea or lemongrass tea before bedtime as these will soothe you and might help you sleep. You can even grow lemongrass yourself in your garden or in a container in your windowsill. Pick it fresh then add it to water that is just below boiling and let it steep for about five minutes.

Lemon juice Drinking the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon in a large glass of water three to five times a day will kill off the pathogens causing the diarrhea. For prevention in case there is a stomach virus going around, take 1-2 tablespoons of juice before meals.

Live yoghurt helps to restore the bacteria in large intestine. Return gradually to other solid foods such as steamed carrots, bananas, hard boiled eggs, and then slowly resume a normal diet. In case of children the advice is to puree the food in a blender.

Diarrhea treatment can be achieved by using Mango Seeds. Mango seeds are very valuable in treating diarrhea. Take a dose of one to two grams with or without honey. Use twice daily.

These remedies are not designed as a prophylactic, like a vaccine. They work on the principle of giving your body an increased chance at staying healthy. But nothing replaces common sense. Wash your hands before eating. Don’t drink ice or from water bottles where the seal has been broken. Drink cocktails in glasses, not cute but probably old coconut shells. Don’t eat anything fresh that you can’t peel. Don’t eat ice cream or drink unpasteurized milk.

Weight Loss Basics — A Medical Perspective for Lay People

In order to achieve weight loss calorie metabolism must exceed calorie intake. Metabolism is a complex series of chemical actions in the body necessary to maintain life involving the utilization of energy from food known as calories. Simplistically speaking, metabolism is the burning of food energy. Therefore, if calorie burning exceeds calorie intake weight loss occurs.  Conversely, if calorie intake is greater than the number of calories burned weight gain occurs.

Life-sustaining bodily activities requiring metabolism include growth and development, various cell functions including digestion, healing, breathing, functioning of the immune system and many of the chemical reactions that occur in the tissues of the body as well as muscle movement.  When number of taken in exceeds the amount of calories utilized for the various life-sustaining activities, the extra calories are stored in the body. Unfortunately, one of the main forms of stored bodily energy is fat.

Approximately 100% of the calories in an average diet are derived from three main food types. Those food types are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The calorie value of each food type is specified as number of calories per gram.  There are 4 calories per gram of carbohydrate and protein and 9 calories per gram of fat. Our bodies use more than just the energy from food but also the smallest chemical particles of the food, known as molecules, as building blocks for body parts and to make enzymes which are proteins that speed up chemical reactions in the body.  For this reason the total daily calorie intake cannot be from just one food type but must be balanced between carbohydrates, fats and protein.

Carbohydrates include simple sugars and more complex chemical particles known as starches and fibers which are present in foods such as grains such as rye, bread, potatoes and pasta. According to most authorities, carbohydrates should constitute between 50% and 55% of total daily calories.

The primary sources of protein in the diet are meat, beans, eggs, nuts, soybean, soybean products and milk products. Between 10% and 15% of the total daily calorie intake should be in the form of protein.

Because of the higher calorie content in fat, diets high in fat cause greater weight gain and are associated with more difficult weight loss. The amount of fat in the diet should be limited not only if weight loss is the goal but also because of the link between fat intake and diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Authorities generally recommend that less than 30% of daily calories should be in the form of fat.

In the fasting state, our bodies begin to break down or burn calories for fat, carbohydrate and protein stores stored in out bodies to maintain life-sustaining bodily activities at the cellular level. The set amount of energy required for sustaining life supporting chemical and biological bodily functions when our digestive tracts are inactive and we are not physically active is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR), which is expressed as calories per day.  BMR decreases with age and is generally higher in males than in females. BMR also increases with increased muscle mass and decreases with obesity.

Because muscles cells and other tissue cells require more energy during physical activity, the body breaks down the sources of stored energy (particularly fat) during exercise resulting in weight loss occurs if the amount of energy utilized is not replaced or exceeded by the dietary intake of calories after or preceding the physical activity.  The increased metabolism associated with physical activity explains why exercise is so important in weight loss programs.

There are basically two forms of exercise, aerobic and anaerobic.  Brisk walking, jogging and playing tennis are examples of aerobic exercise. Weight-lifting is the most common form of anaerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is generally of moderate intensity and is sustained for extended periods. It involves increased breathing and greater burning of fat than does anaerobic exercising which is not sustained for extended periods of time but is of high intensity. Anaerobic exercising tends to be more associated with the use the nonfat body energy stores than aerobic exercising, and therefore is not as effective in producing immediate weight loss as is aerobic exercise in combination with a weight loss diet.

Although immediate weight loss is not usually seen with anaerobic exercising, scientific observations suggest that anaerobic exercising raises the BMR because of the resulting increased muscle mass. Therefore, in the long run, anaerobic exercise can be beneficial in achieving weight and might be more effective in maintaining weight loss once it has been achieved.

Because of the relationship between calorie intake, calorie burning and weight loss, the most successful weight loss programs include a combination of a well-balanced, healthy weight-loss diet and safe exercising. The use of a weight calculator might be extremely helpful in helping coordinate a weight loss diet and exercise in your weight-loss program.

Handle Diabetes. Are You Prepared To Handle Diabetes?

If you’re a meat eater, it’ll interest you to know that just an extra 40g or the equivalent of one.4 oz. of fat daily can triple your downside of developing diabetes .A series of tests by Australia’s University of Sydney has shown that insulin resistance increases with higher levels of fatty acids in our cells. Fat has always been a no-no, more so now that we know fat can impair how our bodies procedure insulin. Thankfully, the same research located that sure polyunsaturated fatty acids such as fish oils really increased insulin efficiency in our bodies.

Fish oil contains polyunsaturated fat, which is far different from animal fat. Omega-three, one of the polyunsaturated fatty acids, aids in lowering cholesterol and protecting from atherosclerosis. Omega-3 has been located to be good for the overall health of your heart and may be useful to handle diabetes.

There is strong evidence that insulin resistance increases whenever excess fat is consumed. In a study of about 50 men and women, Louisiana State University located that even in people who were not diabetic, insulin processing is adversely affected by high levels of fat. This was the case for each test subject irrespective of whether they were overweight or not.

We have all seen warnings about eating too many saturated fats. The TV commercials are filled with frightening warnings, as are infomercials and news articles. It typically gets confusing when trying to figure out what is good for you and what is not, on the other hand it’s becoming evident that everyone agrees with the sound advice to scale back the amount of saturated fats you consume, particularly in conjunction with handling diabetes.

With an already high danger for developing heart disease, diabetics’ll well need to think about avoiding foods that may only steer to poor health and being overweight and other complications.

Eating meat products overloads our own systems with toxic waste materials, thereby forcing an increased burden on our elimination organs to get rid of them. Among the products that must be expelled are uric acid and other uric toxins, which are rather chemically similar to nicotine and caffeine. All of these processes are hard enough on a healthy system, so just think what kind of effect they’ve on someone with diabetes, ver since, as well as the increased toxins in the body, they also have to deal with increased insulin resistance.

There is new research which suggests that anyone suffering from diabetes should avoid animal products and even eliminate red meat from their diet. If you do consume animal products, a wiser course to assistance to handle diabetes is to choose fish, poultry or eggs rather than other fat-laden meats.

Vitamins for Energy

Oxygen needs to be delivered to your brain by your red blood cells for you to feel energetic.  Many people are not receiving the oxygen that they need because they do not have enough iron in their system.  Iron is obtained through grains, meat, eggs, vegetables and supplements.  Absorption of iron is greatly increased when it is in the presence of vitamin C in the stomach.  Low iron levels contribute greatly to low energy levels, but so do high iron levels.  You should have your doctor check your iron levels before you supplement.  You can increase your iron absorption by combining vitamin C supplements or foods high in vitamin C with your meals that contain iron.

Vitamin B12 also acts on your red blood cells to help them deliver oxygen to the brain.  Vitamin B12 works best when in the presence of folic acid.  It actually helps red blood cells to form and enables the body to draw energy from the fats and carbohydrates that we eat.  Low levels of vitamin B12 are a common cause of fatigue and many people benefit from B12 injections.  It is important to have a good balance of B vitamins and don’t overdo it with any one B vitamin.  This is why some doctors recommend a B complex vitamin to their patients.  Speak with your doctor about monitoring the levels of B vitamins in your system as you supplement.

Folic acid is another B vitamin that is needed for energy.  It, like vitamin B12, helps to form red blood cells.  Folic acid deficiencies are common because it is easily destroyed when food is cooked.  Have your doctor test for B12 vitamin deficiencies and folic acid deficiencies at the same time because deficiencies in both have the same symptoms.  People that are deficient in either experience symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, depression, memory loss, confusion, weakness and pale skin.

Magnesium deficiency is the most common deficiency.  Low magnesium levels cause muscle cramps, long-term or chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, and irritability.  Magnesium is directly responsible for producing the molecule Adenosine Tri Phosphate (ATP) which controls our metabolism.  Deficiency is so common because, as Americans, we do not consume much magnesium in our diets.  Furthermore, we lose our magnesium when we use antibiotics, drink alcohol, or experience anything else that makes us excrete more urine.  Testing for magnesium deficiency is usually done through a hair test and is not commonly recommended.  Instead, doctors will advise patients to take a magnesium supplement and monitor symptoms.  If symptoms worsen, then it can generally be assumed that calcium is deficient, not magnesium.

When our body transforms food into energy, it creates by-products called free radicals.  Free radicals cause body-wide inflammation, fatigue, cell damage, and can lead to a multitude of health conditions.  Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that goes through the body cleaning up free radicals and preventing cell damage.  Vitamin C helps other vitamins and minerals to perform their intended functions and can help you to maintain energy in a number of ways. Choosing the best vitamin C can help your other vitamins and supplements to work faster while protecting your body from free radical damage.

Speak with your doctor about supplementing before you buy vitamins to combat fatigue.  Choosing vitamins in their most absorbable form can help you get your energy back and replenish vitamin stores more quickly.

Usefulness of Vitamin E

Vitamin E known as tocopherol, it is a naturally occurring, fat-soluble antioxidant.  The antioxidant property is due to the chromane ring.

Wheat germ oil, cotton seed oil, peanut oil, corn oil and sunflower oil are rich in vitamin E.  It is also present in meat, milk, butter and eggs, asparagus, avocado, egg, milk, nuts, spinach and other green leafy vegetables and wholegrain foods.  It is absorbed along with fat in the small intestine.  Bile salts help in its absorption.  In the liver it is incorporated into the lipoproteins.  It is also stored in adipose tissue, liver and muscle.

Vitamin E is essential to maintain the structure of the membrane and integrity of the cell.  It prevents destruction of the red blood cells, sterility as it maintains germinal epithelium of gonads.  It prevents oxidation of vitamin A and carotenes and also peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids in various tissues and membranes.  It is required for proper storage of creatine in skeletal system, absorption of amino acids from intestine.  It is also believed to prevent development of heart disease, delay the onset of cataract by working in association with vitamins A, C and ?-carotene.  It increases the synthesis of heme.  It is required for proper synthesis of nucleic acids and for cellular respiration.

Severe symptoms of vitamin E deficiency are not seen in humans except increased fragility of erythrocytes, appearance of abnormal cellular membrane and minor neurological symptoms. These are mainly associated with a defect in fat absorption and transport.

Vitamin E is the least toxic of all the fat soluble vitamins and hence no toxic effects due to overdosage have been recorded.
