Certain internet marketers (I won’t name any names here) are writing fake blogs and submitting them to the Google Content Network. These ads pop up when you’re on many different websites, in the Google AdSense sections. Most ads don’t even mention the acai berry. You instead see an advertisement that’s titled something like ‘Flat Stomach Fast!’ or ‘One Rule For a Flat Stomach!’ The web address usually follows the format of a woman’s name, and then the address “weight-loss-blog.com”. This will lead you to a picture of the fake blogger, their fake testimonial, some fake comments, and most importantly, a ‘before and after’ picture.

Most of the times, this is what the fake blogs are advertising. It actually sounds like an okay way to detox your body, so I’m not going to try to shoot it down. Naturally, there will be weight loss just from getting leftover waste out of your colon – providing that you use a trustable product. Since Oprah often mentions acai berry on her show, advertisers manipulate this as ‘credibility’. Oprah didn’t promote acai berries as a weight loss product, but a health product. If you compare fish oil, you will see that there are three basic kinds on the market. The one that has been around for more years than any other is the natural triglyceride form.
Triglycerides are a kind of fat, composed of three fatty acids and a glycerol or glycerin molecule. High triglycerides in the bloodstream are a risk factor for heart disease and other health problems, which is why we are told to limit our intake of dietary fats.
But, in the 1970s, researchers reported that the Greenland Eskimos had a very low incidence of heart disease (practically non-existence), even though their diets were very high in fat. The kinds of fats in their diets were primarily those found in fatty fish and seal meat.
That’s when researchers began to compare fish oils to other kinds of fats. They learned that the fats found in seafood were primarily omega-3 fatty acids; news that they shared with the public.
By comparison, the fats found in the typical American diet include a lot of trans-fatty acids, saturated fats and omega6 fats. And, the American incidence of heart disease is very high. It is still the number one killer of men and women of all races.
When you compare fish oil, you will also see the concentrated esters, which are also natural and readily available for use by the human body, but they have been distilled to remove contaminants such as mercury. The distillation process also makes the omega-3 concentration higher than it is in the triglyceride form.
But, there is reason to believe that the natural triglyceride form has more anti-inflammatory activity; that the distillation process removes some quotient of the oil that is beneficial to your health. That’s why there is another kind on the market. That kind is a 50/50 mix of natural triglycerides and concentrated esters.
The purpose is to provide the highest possible level of omega-3 fatty acids, while providing the highest degree of anti-inflammatory activity. So, when you compare fish oils, it’s a good idea to look for the 50/50 mix.
You may be aware that inflammation plays a role in arthritis and other painful conditions. But, did you know that it plays a role in heart disease and cancer, as well?

Boy did I learn a valuable lesson. Fish oil purity is determined by measuring contaminant levels and the level of oxidation. We can expect that there will be some level of contamination in the parts per billion or parts per trillion, simply because some of the things that we measure for are naturally occurring substances, such as lead, arsenic and mercury.
We can also assume that there will be some level of oxidation, simply because the oils are not processed immediately after the catch is pulled in. We can only hope that the level of contaminants and the level of oxidation will be as low as conceivably possible.
If the level of contaminants is very low, in the parts per billion or trillion, there is no risk associated with consuming the oils. If the level of oxidation is very low, there is no risk of fishy tasting burps or increasing our intake of free radical molecules.
Supplement manufacturers are able to test each batch of oils for contaminants and freshness, but many of them do not, because they are not required to. As a general rule, you can be more confident about fish oil purity than you can about eating salmon, cod or another species, because it is not possible to test each one for contamination, without rendering it inedible, as long as the supplement manufacturer tests each batch.
In to let their consumers know that each batch is tested, some manufacturers publish a copy of the laboratory report on their website. Referred to as a COA or certificate of analysis, it is your guide to choosing a safe supplement. If the brand that you are thinking about buying does not post a COA, then choose another brand.
The COA will give you more information that that having to do with fish oil purity. It will also list the total omega-3s that will be found in each capsule, as well as the amount of individual omega-3s; Docosahexaenoic acid and Eicosapentaenoic acid or DHA and EPA.
The average capsule contains 1000mg of oils, but only a portion of that is omega-3 fat. In the better brands, a minimum of 50% of the fat is omega-3 fat.
Most brands contain more EPA than DHA. That’s because most species of fish have a higher level of EPA than DHA. We need both of those fatty acids in our diet, but research indicates that DHA is the most important.
Fish oil purity is a particularly important consideration in some cases. If contaminants are detected, the manufacturer can use a process called molecular distillation to remove the impurities. But, molecular distillation also seems to have some effect on the anti-inflammatory activity of the natural triglycerides.
DHA is of great importance to our brains. Both, EPA and DHA, as well as another called DPA are important to our hearts. The natural anti-inflammatory activity is important to every cell of our bodies, because inflammation is a cause of cellular aging.

Cancer has become a much bigger threat to human lives – and has caused more deaths — than all the wars of the world combined. In the U.S. alone, every 60 seconds, someone dies from cancer — and that’s like losing as many people as we did on 9/11 every 2 days.
Here’s another grim statistic: Every 3 minutes, someone new is diagnosed with cancer. The problem with raising funds for cancer research is this:
The funds eventually go towards cancer research that does NOT cure cancer. In the 95 years that health organizations like the American Cancer Society have been dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem, there has been VERY LITTLE PROGRESS made in the curing of the deadly disease. Instead, the incidence of cancer has grown exponentially over the last hundred years.
A single cancer fundraising campaign, such as the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, for instance, raises approximately $150 million in funds for cancer research. Tens of billions of dollars have been raised by all the fundraising campaigns combined – and yet, according to the American Cancer Society, there’s still a 41% probability that an individual, male or female, will develop cancer in his or her lifetime (or die from it)!
Why have all the billions of dollars raised for cancer research been FUTILE in curing cancer?
Many people, including the Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, Dr. Samuel Epstein, state that the priorities of health organizations that claim to be dedicated to finding a cancer cure are “economically motivated, and reflect conflicts of interests with the pharmaceutical industry, the pesticide industry, and the mammography industry.”
Another reason why attempts at curing cancer have been futile thus far is because the funds raised have been allocated to raising public awareness of the merits of the 3 conventional cancer therapies – that is, chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
And yet, Oncologist Dr. Tullio Simoncini states that according to his polls and questionnaires, “75 percent of doctors say they’d refuse chemotherapy if they were struck with cancer due to its ineffectiveness and its devastating side effects.” In fact, the medical journal, “Clinical Oncology,” published the results of a study in December 2004, wherein it was shown that chemotherapy has a success rate of just over 2 percent for all cancers! [That's a FAILURE rate of 98%!]
Therefore, funneling research funds towards the advancement of ineffective therapies that don’t eliminate the root CAUSE of cancer will always be a losing proposition.
The fact is, the business of “curing” cancer – or any disease, for that matter — has become an overcomplicated system that is usually invasive and expensive. More often than not, it also does more harm than good – and the “good” that it does is limited to relieving only the SYMPTOMS of the disease, and not its CAUSE.
